Join us on Krka Waterfalls and Klis fortress tour. Our first tour in the season 2022 has been truly unique experience!
Krka National Park lies within Šibenik-Knin County, and covers a total area of 109 km² of the loveliest sections of the Krka River, and the lower course of the Čikola River. The national park Krka is a vast and primarily unaltered area of exceptional natural value, including one or more preserved or insignificantly altered ecosystems. The purpose of the park is primarily to serve science, culture, education and recreation, while tourism activities have also been introduced for visitors.
The Krka River is 72.5 km long, making it the 22nd longest river in Croatia. It springs in the foothills of the Dinara mountain range, 2.5 km northeast of Knin. With its seven waterfalls and a total drop in altitude of 242 m, the Krka is a natural and karst phenomenon. The travertine waterfalls of the Krka River are the fundamental phenomenon of this river.
Skradinski buk, the longest and most commonly visited waterfall on the Krka River is one of Croatia’s best known natural wonders. The waterfalls were created by travertine barriers, islands and lakes. The waterfalls can be viewed year round thanks to the network of trails and bridges that allow for pleasant and safe walking.
The Waterworld Croatia team took the first tour this April in order to see if everything is set up for our guests to enjoy. It was a really amazing trip with our first guests this season.
We walked the wooden paths, used every moment to enjoy the peaceful and pleasant atmosphere and the ambience of nature. Each waterfall simply leaves you breathless. After a walk in nature we enjoyed a panoramic boat ride to the charming small town of Skradin. In Skradin we had organized lunch where our guests had the opportunity to taste the most traditional meal - famous Skradin risotto followed with a glass of homemade wine in the restaurant Visovac.
After visiting Krka on the way back we went to see the Klis fortress.
Klis Fortress is located above the town of Klis, only 12 km away from Split. It is built on a hill and is positioned between the 2 mountains Kozjak and Mosor. It has magnificent views of the nearby city Split and on the Adriatic Sea and its islands. Even just the breathtaking view makes this visit worthwhile!
In today's fortress on Klis, many buildings have been preserved in whole or in part, mostly from the Venetian and Austrian periods. The fortress itself consists of three fenced parts with separate entrances.
We are sure that you will be delighted with these beautiful locations to spend the most beautiful moments in Croatia.
